Does AI have the answer??

After a flurry of focused hectic activity in the run up to the deadline for submissions to the Appeal Hearing, we have had a bit of time to recuperate and breathe a bit. Allotmenteers will have seen me trying to catch up on weeding and picking produce!

We are still buzzing with the response from our lovely supporters and the wider community writing to the Planning Inspectorate.

I now have a ‘timeline table’ (can’t beat a good spreadsheet!) of the tenants for all three pubs that used to be in the village going back to about 1822! I think we can even pin the name change from The Gardeners Arms to The Oddfellows Arms to a 5-year window towards the end of the 1860s! We definitely have ideas about doing something with the fascinating historical information we were obsessing over that gives a really clear picture of the pub’s history and the wider community life. Watch this space!

For now, we are just keeping on with our plans to develop the project and will be looking forward to the Appeal Hearing in August but more of that next time!

In the meantime, if you want to sign up to get our newsletters or pledge to buy shares when we go live with the community share issue then head over to the ‘get involved’ and/or ‘pledge’ pages on the website. You can also donate to the cause if you would prefer to do that. If you have skills to offer, whether they be practical, ‘trades’ or administrative, then get in touch. When we succeed with our bid to get the pub we will need all hands on deck.

I’m hoping that the AI suggestions provided by the Google when searching for the Oddies are a prediction!! It must have picked up on the COF press releases but they say AI is the way forward so you never know!!
