The waiting game

After a frenetic few weeks in early August in the run up to the Appeal Hearing we are now in a bit of a lull as we wait for the Inspector's decision on the case. We were very pleased with how the Hearing went and are hopeful of a positive outcome that will allow us to move forward to finalise a purchase of the pub and surrounding area that has previously been confirmed as 'available to the Oddies'. We've been here before but hope that this time sense will prevail and we can complete the negotiations to the satisfaction of all parties.

We have the funding for the purchase in place, and are ready to undertake the share issue when required to provide for the refurbishment costs. We have a plan of action so will work with advice from Plunkett UK and our local professional support to get moving as soon as we can.

We were very pleased to receive the Community Shares Standard Mark approval in the weeks before the Hearing. This is a 'gold standard' approval for our proposed share issue from the Cooperative Community Shares Unit and shows that we are considered a credible organisation that meets industry standards.

We want to say a big THANK YOU again to our friends and supporters in the local community and beyond. The turnout at the Hearing was fantastic and really showed the local commitment to keeping the pub as a focal point at the heart of the community. We've had loads of messages of support and walking around the village and seeing all the dozens of posters still in place is still so exhilarating!

As soon as we have the decision confirmed we will let you know what's next but, for now, keep the faith!
