Planning Pushback
Yet again the community has shown its desire to keep the pub – THANK YOU to the dozens and dozens of people wrote to HBBC Planning Department about the latest Planning Application by developers to develop the pub site. We now have to wait to see what the Planning Committee decide on the basis of our submissions and the various reports from the other agencies.
The vision for ‘The Oddies' – a pub at the heart of the community
We have continued to speak with the developers to push forward our plans. Our vision is to acquire the pub for the community and reopen with a focus on developing a thriving village amenity that serves all. We envisage a bar, restaurant, meeting space, gardens and outside space. The ideas shared by the community at the consultation meetings are at the heart of our plans.
The STOP Steering Group have continued to develop the business plans to allow us to buy the pub when we persuade the developers to sell to us. As part of this we have established a community company called Higham Community Benefit Society Ltd and are encouraging people to pledge to buy shares.
Share Pledges – your expression of interest
To show the strength of commitment in the community we are asking for pledges to purchase shares. We are looking for you to pledge to buy shares in the Society, which will then formally make an offer for the pub.
For more information see our pledge page.
If you’d like to see a similar project have a look at the inspiring work at The Lowther Arms www.thelowtherarms.co.uk/ or The Blue Bell www.bluebellstokeferry.org/ who are on the same trajectory as us.
